Overview

The Ladakh Marathon is not merely a race. It is one of the world’s most extraordinary endurance experiences, where reaching the starting line is as much an achievement as crossing the finish line.

Set amidst the stark beauty of the Trans-Himalayan region at an altitude of 3,500 metres, this iconic event challenges runners to push beyond their limits in one of the highest and most breathtaking marathon destinations on Earth. The combination of thin mountain air, high-altitude terrain, and dramatic Himalayan landscapes creates a race experience unlike any conventional road marathon.

Designed as a complete high-altitude running expedition, this 10-day journey combines structured acclimatization, marathon-specific preparation, athlete-focused nutrition, recovery support, and immersive exploration of Ladakh’s most spectacular destinations. Every aspect of the itinerary has been carefully planned to help participants adapt safely to the altitude, arrive at race day physically prepared, mentally confident, and ready to perform at their best.

Beyond race day, the expedition showcases the very best of Ladakh — a scenic excursion into Sham Valley, the legendary Khardung La Pass (5,359 m), the cold desert of Nubra Valley, and the turquoise waters of Pangong Lake. Along the way, discover ancient monasteries, remote Himalayan villages, vibrant local culture, and landscapes found nowhere else on Earth.
